Job Details

Opened in 2013 by chef and owner Ignacio Mattos, estela offers a charming-but-edgy experience, located just above street level on Houston in SoHo. Described as “bold, bright, layered, playful, and surprising”, estela’s cuisine toes the line between comfort and experiment, familiarity and exploration. Estela currently seeks a Maitre'd passionate for its style and cuisine who is able to balance the many demands of this dynamic position.

A successful candidate will be in tune to both the neighborhood and the restaurants pace and energy. First and foremost, this requires excellent service to each of our guests, prioritizing their experience and communicating clearly. Additionally, the space is incredibly dynamic and requires grace and finesse to navigate. A Maitre'd at estela must be adept at balancing these challenges, and should also be ready to enjoy the fun of a busy door right next to our bar!

estela is an Equal Opportunity Employer. All employment decisions are to be made without regard to race, color, age, sex, gender, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, pregnancy, religion, creed, marital status, transgender status partnership status, familial status, national origin/ancestry, alienage or citizenship status, unemployment status, mental or physical disability or medical condition, handicap, military status, veteran’s status, genetic information, status as a victim of domestic violence, status as a victim of sex offenses or stalking, employment status, or any other status protected by federal, state, or local law.

Upscale Casual

Part of Matter House

Estela is a restaurant in downtown Manhattan from chef Ignacio Mattos. Set one floor above Houston Street, it is a bistro at heart, taking familiar ideas like tartare, ricotta dumplings, burrata on toast, fried rice, and steak, and presenting them in new, satisfying ways. The bar is open late, and you can come in for just a glass and a small bite, should you feel like it. Now in its 7th year, Estela has earned numerous accolades, including a place on the World’s 50 Best Restaurants List, a Michelin star and two stars from both New York Magazine and the New York Times.
