Officina, an Italian restaurant and market at the Wharf in Washington, DC is seeking a motivated and driven culinary leader to join our team as Chef de Cuisine.

 

Job description

 

The ideal candidate must possess strong knowledge of Italian cuisine and fundamental culinary techniques. As Chef de Cuisine you will oversee all kitchen operations. This leadership role requires an ability to balance exceptional culinary execution alongside the ability to lead a team and manage food cost. The ability to multi-task and ensure consistency in a fast paced environment is a must. 

Required skills and experience:

  • Experience managing food COGS and labor costs
  • Ability to analyze a P&L
  • Minimum 2 years experience in a leadership role
  • Ability to ensure food preparation and execution via established procedures
  • R&D and menu development
  • Strong leadership skills and desire to mentor and coach 
  • Passion for sourcing sustainable and local ingredients
  • Natural sense of urgency
  • Love of making others happy
