This position is located at Mandarin Oriental Boston. Holding both the AAA Five Diamond and the Forbes Five-Star awards, Mandarin Oriental, Boston enjoys a coveted location in beautiful Back Bay. With a sophisticated yet relaxed atmosphere, the hotel offers the perfect blend of luxury and style.


It is the mission and intent of this position that the incumbent will take a leading role in the Main Kitchen, supporting the Executive Chef, leading and inspiring the team to create a 5 Star, 5 Diamond environment.   

The Sous Chef will in conjunction with the Executive Chef lead the culinary team.  Working to maintain quality in food and work environment.  

The Sous Chef will report directly to the Executive Chef.

Scope & range

Daily communication between all Culinary/F&B/operational department. Internal & external communication. Respect and communicate to promote an excellent environment in which to work and will provide for your guests a welcome feeling. You are expected to be a "team player," anticipate guest needs, and provide guests & colleagues with a friendly experience.

Education, Experience, Skills and Training

High School Diploma or Equivalent

Two year degree, apprenticeship, or a minimum of 3-5 years experience cooking in upscale restaurant or bistro

One to two years as a management experience in a fine dining establishment strongly preferred.

ServSafe certification 

Excellent communication skills

Able to cope with pressure
