Job Details

Onda is looking for an experienced Pastry Chef. Onda is Santa Monica Proper’s signature restaurant which marks a global collaboration with Jessica Koslow (Sqirl, Silverlake) and Gabriela Camara (Contramar, Cala). These award-winning, tastemaker chefs draw from California and Mexican flavors, techniques and ingredients in the open kitchen, at the bar, and on the table.

Job Overview

  • Lead in managing production schedule and plating specifications
  • Develop Seasonal dessert menus
  • Manage, coordinate and train the team engaged in pastry production
  • Ensures and maintains the productivity level of the pastry team
  • Establish working schedule and maintenance of quality standards
  • Comply with and enforce sanitation regulations and safety standards
  • Communicate clearly with managers, kitchen and front of house staff
  • Establishes and maintains open and collaborative relationships with colleagues and helps ensure colleagues do the same within the team
  • Use interpersonal and communication skills to lead, influence, and encourage others

 

Requirements

  • Culinary Degree or Certification preferred
  • 4 years’ experience in a fast-paced establishment, preferably in a lead or managerial role Excellent record of kitchen and staff management
  • Collaborative and creative approach
  • Familiar with industry’s best practices
  • Working knowledge of various computer software programs (MS Office, restaurant management software, POS)
  • Flexible work schedule including open availability in the evenings and weekends
