Black Cat is a restaurant, bar and live music venue located in the heart of the Tenderloin of San Francisco. We are the most unique, upscale music venue in the Bay Area and one of the best cocktail bars in the city, consistently listed on Eater's "Heat Map". Recipient of SF Magazine's "Most Romantic Venue" and a consistently top-voted venue for ambiance in the Bay Area.


We are an upscale, multiple-experience venue. Our upstairs Lobby Bar cocktail lounge features craft cocktails and food, while downstairs offers live jazz six nights a week (closed Mondays). We are open until midnight Sunday-Thursday, and until 2am on Fridays and Saturdays.


We have hosted some of the top names in jazz, R&B, and soul, including Keyon Harrold, Goapele, Bilal, Mobetta Brown (a member of Anderson .Paak's Free Nationals, Sean Jones, and more. We regularly host high-end clientele as guests, including Drake, Hannibal Buress, Anderson .Paak, Kevin Hart, Shaquille O'Neal, Green Day, Thievery Corporation, and more. 


We are currently looking for an Assistant General Manager to direct nightly service of the club. The position is responsible for directing nightly service of the restaurant. Some (but not all) responsibilities include:


-Opening and closing the restaurant

-Managing reservations and running the front/host staff

-Lead service nightly and inspiring the staff

-Successful, positive conflict resolution and disciplinary accountability

-Complying with city, state, and federal labor guidelines

-Contributing to continuous improvement and elevation of service and standards

-Upkeep of Menus, educational materials, etc

-Inventory and management of physical goods (equipment, wine, liquor, etc)

-Financial management and tracking; accurate accounting of daily transaction, tips and cash reconciliation

-Development and cultivation of systems and protocols for enhancing/streamlining operations


The Candidate will possess the following skills and experience:

-A love of live music!

-Strong leadership skills

-Unimpeachable integrity

-Extensive knowledge of cuisine and the local dining scene

-3-5 years of fine dining experience in the bay area

-Intimate knowledge of bay area labor regulations and guidelines

-A proven track record of excellence in their field

-Knowledge of and experience in POS and reservation systems (OpenTable, Reserve, Aloha, Micros, etc)

-Passion about food, wine and jazz

-A dedication to hospitality and a positive work environment

-A desire to grow and learn within our growing company
