Dominique Crenn, the chef/owner of San Francisco restaurants Petit Crenn, one Michelin starred Bar Crenn, and three Michelin starred Atelier Crenn, focuses on cuisine as a craft and the community as an inspiration. Crenn was awarded World's Best Female Chef in 2016 by San Pellegrino's 50 Best, Best Chef: West in May of 2018 by the James Beard Foundation, and four stars from SF Chronicle in June 2018. Crenn Dining Group is growing and in search of highly motivated, detail-oriented, hospitable Assistant Captain who is looking to be a part of a team that values excellence, learning and a positive culture. 
 

Our Assistant Captain provides essential support to our captains and the wine team in each evening's service. The Assistant Captain specifically, will arrive first to begin set up of the dining room. The Assistant Captain will be responsible for complete set-up of dining room, from cleaning and configuration of tables, to setting up all plates, cleaning duties and service utensils for service.

During service, the Assistant Captain will assist captains with table maintenance, ensuring tables are marked correctly with utensils and glassware in a timely manner. The Assistant Captain should be comfortable with movements in the dining room according to fine-dining standards, and be able to efficiently complete tasks in a busy environment. 
The Assistant Captain will assist with food running and spieling dishes, so he/she should be comfortable explaining food and interacting with guests.


Qualities required:

  • Experience in hospitality or customer service, Michelin experience is preferred.
  • Be friendly, social, and like to interact with staff and guests; Be a team player. 
  • Be very meticulous, efficient, and open to learning and suggestions.
  • Be prompt, reliable, and always carry a gracious and hospitable attitude.
  • Have base knowledge of food and beverage.
  • Have a strong personality. Be determined to deliver detailed and high level of luxury service. 

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare trays, plates, utensils, napkins for service.
  • Set and reset tables during service.
  • Restock glassware stations.
  • Make sure to clear table and be responsible when handling luxury equipment. 
  • Align tables and chairs in dining room.
  • Set up guest bathroom (soap, toilet paper, towels, flowers/candles).
  • Set up plates for kitchen.
  • Assist Captain during service with table maintenance (clearing, marking).
  • Constantly keep an eye on the water level.
  • Always help run food when hands are needed
  • Prepare coffee and tea for the guest.
  • Prepare NA beverages following recipes and standards.
  • Break down coffee station.
  • Be responsible for the inventory of mise en place and weekly cleaning side work.
  • Keep constant eye contact on the guest to anticipate needs and report to a Manager when a guest is unhappy.
