Freehand Chicago is hiring a full-time Kitchen Supervisor for our Broken Shaker bar.  Fun and dynamic work environment.  Kitchen open M-Sat 4pm to 11pm; Sunday 6pm to 11pm.  Menu is elevated bar plates with focus on burgers, fries, salads, etc., with all ingredients made in-house. 

This is a hands-on posiiton where the candidate will take ownership of the kitchen and team, building and executing systems and structures for ordering, cleaning, maintenance, prep and inventory.  Will work the line minimum two nights/week and prep/support another cook 3 nights/week, scheduling a dishwasher as necessary.  We are a small kitchen with a one-person line so everyone wears multiple hats.  Must be able to manage a small staff, multi-task, manage time wisely, and communicate effectively with other teams (FOH, Facilities, etc), as well as roll up sleeves and get job done as needed to ensure a smooth operation. 

Excellent benefits and competitive pay for the right candidate. At least 3 years kitchen experience required. Leadership experience required, sanitation manager certification a plus.

Job duties include:

• Oversee kitchen and all food service production for regular service and special events. Ensure output is consistent and meets quality standards and cost expectations.
 
• Coordinate and collaborate with corporate chefs on menu development and execution.
 
• Oversee training, developing, leadership of BOH staff including up to two additional cooks and dishwashers. 

• Prepare weekly schedule; ensure proper staffing levels for all shifts.

• Manage inventory and minimize loss due to waste, spill, theft or abuse.  Perform monthly inventory.

• Maintain documents including recipes, prep lists, order guides and training materials

• Ensure a clean, safe and compliant workplace and food service environment.

• Oversee ordering; maintain food cost and other expenses.
