Job Details
Kensho is a cafe during the day, evolving into a natural wine & sake bar with a progressive & ever evolving Japanese/French inspired 5-10 dish menu.
Half the space is indoors, half on our beautiful hollywood hills patio. 15 seats inside 15 outside, hovering approx 30 seats.
The menu itself is designed to look like an a la carte tasting menu, few smalls, few mediums and few mains. Ending with a sweet & rotating cheese/charcuterie plates.
The exeprience can be a wine bar or restaurant depending on what the guest desires.
The menu is organized so that the full dinning experience is presented if two guests order the whole menu (tasting menu shareable for two) with beverage pairing.
Equally a guest can pick and choose as little or as many dishes and hang out as a wine/sake bar experience.
On weekends kensho serves a japanese breakfast set omakase. Consisting of various pickled and seasonal vegetables, fish, rice, soup in a single guest or double (shareable) format.
Kensho is a small team with a full open kitchen where the dining room and bar/kitchen all co-exist in the same space. We interact with guests as if we are cooking for them in our living room, of our home.
An ever-evoling natural wine & sake list pairs with an ever evolving menu.
A parisian neo-bistro meets japanese izakaya with a refined sense of service.
We are looking for a chef who can add creatively to the menu, think and execute quickly, be fluid and dynamic within the restaurant and work in sync with foh as the kitchen and foh live together and coexist with the guests.
Chefs who want to work in a fun environment, drop dishes, share inspirations and embody our culture of building a family of friends and guests is important.
This is not a executive chef driven firing line, it is a hyper-personal opportunity to be within a creative headspace, learning about wine/sake/service while presenting an elevated casual dining experience.
