Job Details

At Rock Steady we are passionate about our restaurant and the people who join our team. Our Prep Cooks play an important role in ensuring the highest quality food is prepared from our kitchen. They properly stock the kitchen and line with the necessary items to complete food orders on time, while following proper food safety and sanitation standards to guarantee Guest safety. 

Prep Cooks work in a team-oriented, high-volume, fast-paced, guest-centric environment to Far Exceed Expectations Daily for our Guests.

Primary Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Ability to handle knives
  • Ability to operate kitchen equipment
  • Assist Line Cook/Chef with food preparation
  • Follow a prep list
  • Label food and ensure proper food rotation (FIFO)
  • Prepare items to recipes provided

Requirements include but are not limited to:

  • Ability to lift up to 50lbs as needed
  • Ability to work effectively within a team
  • Ability to be on your feet and alert for extended periods of time
  • Must have upbeat, outgoing and positive attitude 
  • Experience working in a professional restaurant kitchen is a must.

Compensation details

Our Story:

Rock Steady borrows its name from the popular 1960s Jamaican music characterized by a mellow, swaying rhythm. 

Our menu focuses on contemporary renditions of traditional Jamaican cuisine, but also features Haitian and West African dishes. Taking cues from the convivial, community vibe of the Caribbean, several plates are generous enough in size to be enjoyed with others. Dishes can be complemented with selections from our menu of hand-crafted rum-based cocktails, locally sourced spirits or craft beer. 

We are committed to using authentic ingredients from the African diaspora that are both seasonally and sustainably sourced. We are catering to people nostalgic for signature Caribbean dishes in terms of ingredients, freshness, and flavor but who also appreciate novel and unexpected twists.
