Alexander's Steakhouse, a modern fine dining steakhouse located in the SoMa district of San Francisco, is seeking full time line cook to round out our professional, dedicated team. Here at Alexander’s Steakhouse, we offer a fine dining interpretation of a Modern American Steakhouse with hints of Japanese influences throughout our menu. We pride ourselves in excellent customer service as well as our meticulously curated beef program with emphasis on highlighting small farms from the Us, Australia, and Japan. Featuring classic cuts such as Ribeye, Bone-In New York and Filet Mignon, to sustainable seafood, composed small plates and the largest variety of Wagyu Steak in the U.S. (we currently feature 10 types of Wagyu from 9 different prefectures). We also highlight dry-aged steaks and offer the finest and most luxurious products available including two tasting menus and an award-winning wine list.

What We Are Looking For: 
We are seeking passionate and self-motivated culinary professionals to join our close-knit team at Alexander’s Steakhouse. We are looking to fill positions for PM line cooks. Candidates should have professional kitchen experience, including working a hot line and grill. A line cook role refers to a back of house worker whose primary responsibility is to keep the tempo of the restaurant flowing during service. Job Description/Summary of Position:
We are seeking someone who wants to take the next step in their career and wants to be part of what we are building. We believe in team work and you should as well. Experienced cooks are welcome, but we are willing to move cooks around to better them and make room for new less experienced cooks. We are a product driven scratch kitchen that believes in training our staff to do things the right way. Duties/Responsibilities/Essential Functions:
• Set up and stock stations with all necessary supplies 
• Make staff meal 
• Prepping, cooking, and storing food to the highest standards 
• Writing prep lists, following recipes, and taking accurate inventory 
• Prepare menu items independently 
• Demonstrates teamwork and contributes to team environment 
• Cleans and stocks assigned areas, performs other cleaning duties as assigned 
• Understands and follows cooking procedures and recipes 
• Maintains a clean, safe, and healthy kitchen space
• Opening and maintaining the high standards of the kitchen 
• Following and writing a prep list that accurately plans for the day's service along with properly scheduling prep to ensure accurate food production throughout the week 
• Ensuring health and safety standards are exceeded each day 
• Cooking, serving food to order
• Cooking and preparing all menu items in accordance standards set by the Chef 
• Stock and maintain sufficient levels of food on the line
• Food preparation and portioning prior to service
• Maintaining a clean and sanitary work environment
• Ability to lift 60 lbs and stand for long periods of time 
• Learning a station quickly and executing the menu efficiently. 
• Keeping work area clean at all times. 
• Cleaning/organizing station. 
• Can work a variety of shifts, including weekends and holidays 
• Has reliable transportation to work and regular communication with restaurant

You Should Possess the Following Attributes/Qualifications:
• Knowledge of weights, measurements, volume and cooking procedures. 
• Must be able to stand for extended periods of time, lift up to 50 lbs. and work in a confined area with elevated temperatures. 
• Continuous bending, reaching, twisting and use of hands and arms.

• Cooking experience or Back of the House experience preferred 
• Able to meet all scheduling commitments 
• Strong communication skills 
• Able to commit to at least 12 months of full-time employment 
• Fast learner 
• Organized and calm in fast-paced environment 
• Attention to high standards for food quality 
• Effective communicator
