Job Details

Tannat is a 30 seat restaurant with a hyper seasonal menu and natural wine program. We exclusively source all our ingredients from small, local, organic farms in the Hudson Valley. Our menu changes every day and we specialize in four course tasting menus that are a surprise to the customer.

We are looking for a full-time Sous Chef who can grow with our company. The schedule is four days a week and includes prep and service shifts. You will run the kitchen by yourself, including bringing food to the table, interacting with customers, dishes, and more. You will also be responsible for helping with menu development, plating, and kitchen budgets.

This is an ideal position for someone who is not satisfied with more corporate settings, and who is flexible, creative, and open to new ideas. Tannat is challenging conventional wisdom of the industry. We created a business model committed to equity, zero food waste, and community building. We are a very small team, so an open, friendly, and helpful attitude is a must. All people of all backgrounds and orientations are encouraged to apply. Food Handlers License is required.

Compensation details

Tannat is a 30 seat restaurant looking over Fort Tryon Park at the border of Washington Heights and Inwood in Upper Manhattan. The menu is hyper-seasonal and entirely sourced from small local farms. It changes every day. Tannat specializes in "suppers," which are multi-course meals chosen by the chef and taking into consideration dietary restrictions. The wine program focuses on natural wines, small productions, and female winemakers. The wine list is also constantly changing. Tannat is near zero-waste. All employees are assured a living wage. Long-term employees are included in a profit-sharing program.
