Job Details
Made Nice, the counter service restaurant from Chef Daniel Humm offers a menu that focuses on fresh, seasonal ingredients. It is our goal to provide delicious food and gracious hospitality to our guests--quickly. We are excited to be able to offer thoughtful, composed dishes and house-made beverages in a casual atmosphere without sacrificing our standards on quality or service. 
 
We are looking for a Sous Chef to lead and inspire our team. This position plays a key role in operating the restaurant. You must be able to manage and educate the team, dictate the production schedule, and enforce the policies and procedures of our company.
 

Overview of Responsibilities

  • Support the team and play an important role in getting the restaurant set up for service
  • Dictate the flow of service, and ensure that all orders being served to guests meet our standards
  • Oversee and assist with prep work production and ensure the team is completing their tasks effectively and efficiently
  • Manage line cooks and prep teams, including training, coaching, and disciplining
  • Ensure that recipes are followed to maintain consistency and quality
  • Work with the Executive Chef and R&D team on new menu items, including writing and costing of recipes.
  • Assist with recruiting and hiring, interviewing candidates, as needed
  • Ensure the cleanliness of the restaurant and functionality of equipment, working with third party vendors, as needed
  • Execute catering orders, including attending off-sites and pop-ups
  • Support with purchasing and receiving tasks, including visiting the Greenmarket
  • Maintain an attention to detail while working in a high-volume environment
Requirements for Success:
  • Advanced and accurate knife skills
  • Ability to read and follow recipes and standards
  • Strong oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Strong computer skills with working knowledge of Microsoft Office and Outlook
  • Capability to teach and mentor others
  • Experience with a variety of cooking styles and techniques
  • Ability to adapt and make decisions quickly in a fast-paced environment
  • At least 3 years' culinary restaurant experience
  • At least 1 year supervisory experience, preferred
