Nina May is a new American restaurant in Shaw. This is a chef and beverage driven restaurant that always focuses on the freshest products and the highest levels of service.

Starting in December, Nina May will be open as a cafe in the morning serving fresh pastries, coffee and light breakfast + lunch food. Mornings will feature counter service only and a fast-casual dining experience. On November 1st we opened our doors for dinner service which features full table service with modern American food and a focus on shared plates and family-style dining. Nina May is a place for people to eat and explore our menus together.

Family-style dining is beloved the world over for its simplicity. A small plate here. A platter for the table there. The food is enjoyed by all, but the focus is community and sharing. Guests value this experience of eating and drinking with “family.”

The seasonal, rotating menu at Nina May will be 100% locally sourced and sustainable, with all ingredients grown, caught, produced, or sourced within 150 miles of the city. A commitment to supporting local small businesses and sustaining those farms and fisheries of the community defines Nina May. Sustainability and limited impact on ocean and farm health are paramount.

Nina May is looking for an Executive Sous Chef to join our team. Oversee and coordinate the planning, organizing and training necessary to achieve stated objectives in sales, costs, employee retention, guest service and satisfaction, food quality, cleanliness and sanitation. The Sous Chef will work closely with the Owner, Executive Chef and General Manager in continuing to uphold and build the business with the best staff, management team, food and service.

The ideal candidate will have:
- Previous management experience in a professional kitchen
- Knowledge and understanding of safety, sanitation and food handling procedures
- Strong technical cooking skills
- Knowledge of seasonal produce and seasonal menu development
- Team oriented leadership with focus on staff development/retention
- Humble approach to culinary artistry
- Efficiency minded production capacity
- An understanding of how to follow written and verbal instructions
- Strong attention to detail

Duties and Responsibilities:
- Manage all aspects of daily kitchen operations 
- Exceed DOH standards of sanitation
- Supervise kitchen staff and manage staff training 
- Create and maintain BOH schedule
- Maintain all inventory and manage all ordering 
- Oversee all kitchen prep and service ensuring accuracy and quality of all menu items
- Maintain cleanliness and quality control of the Kitchen
