DIRECTOR OF CATERING & SALES - A rare Management opportunity in a dynamic Food Company!

THE COMPANY:

M&G Foodstuff is not your regular catering company, we are a young, dynamic food company. We create vibrant, seasonal and health centric food with innovative and unique ways of presentation. We work with the top producers, photographers and fashion houses in NYC and are the industry leaders in our field and are looking to build upon our amazing team.

 

THE ROLE:

We are looking for a dynamic individual with a strong entrepreneurial spirit, who is innovative and results driven. The ideal candidate will share our company’s creative vision and have a passion for all things food and hospitality!

As Director of Event Catering & Sales you will be responsible for selling and presenting our brand to current and new potential clients and overseeing the co-ordination and execution of all events. You will also manage and collaborate with internal event, production and culinary teams in all stages of the event planning process. DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Event Management

  • Leads planning and execution of events and delegates roles within the event planning team
  • Oversee event team to ensure quotes, invoices and client emails are responded to and completed in a timely manner.
  • Manage client budgets to maximise revenue and also meet client needs
  • Oversee Menu Development with Executive Chef in order to meet client needs and keeping up with industry trends.
  • Champions all standards, policies and procedures for the events team.

 

Sales Strategy

  • Proactively research, prospect & solicit new business
  • Develop and implement new sales strategies to benefit existing clients and maximizing client retention.
  • Accurately forecasting monthly sales
  • Ensure the events team are maximising revenue opportunities and up-selling where possible

 

Staff Management:

  • Manage daily check-ins and weekly meetings with Events department
  • Establishing and maintaining appropriate staffing in the events and production team including hiring and firing.
  • Appropriate training of new staff members and implementing appropriate systems to make sure this occurs. Ongoing training & development for events and production staff
  • Set the standards and always lead by example to create a team atmosphere which is lively and casual but always working efficiently and professionally.
  • Continually assess staff in the events department, identify strengths and areas needed for development, follow through on progress, complete performance reviews.

 

Client Relations:

  • Maintaining great relationships with clientele is integral to the success of M&G. You will work directly with clients in order to make sure their needs are being met and lines of communication are clear and professional.
  • Complete confidence in resolving any issues with clients that may arise in a professional and timely manner so the client is satisfied and we maintain the integrity and reputation of M&G.
  • Ability to fluently discuss budgets, food and beverage options with all clientele
  • Regular discussions of client feedback regarding quality of product with Event & Kitchen team.

 

QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE/SKILLS:

  • 3-5 yrs Management experience in Events/Catering.
  • Proven 3-5 yrs Sales Experience in Events or Food & Beverage setting.
  • Detailed knowledge of the catering and events industry in NYC with industry and vendor contacts in order to hit the ground running on day one and drive business.
  • Knowledge of industry food trends, style and design principles
  • Ability to work autonomously and make educated decisions
  • Communication and leadership skills are second to none!
  • Extremely detail orientated, amazing time management skills
  • Capable of delegating to and overseeing multiple staff members concurrently
  • Great knowledge of online systems – Office, Quickbooks online, Expense management tracking
  • Most importantly a candidate who is hungry for the next opportunity and willing to go the extra mile!
