Job Details

o ya is looking for an engaging individual who has a passion for hospitality, curiosity for Japanese cuisine/culture and commitment to the restaurant industry. This candidate will  lead our talented team of hosts by motivating them with their enthusiasm, professionalism, and experience.

 

Responsibilities

Collaborating with the General Manager and Chef each day to run a seamless service

Managing the o ya guest experience from the reservationist perspective

Teaching and incorporating o ya’s service philosophy in day to day host tasks

Scheduling reservations and accommodating guest requests

Designing the host schedule

Training and development of new and existing host team

Loosely providing support to the servers: assisting with clearing tables or running food, as needed

 

Skills & Qualifications

1-2 years host experience preferred

At least 2 years working in the restaurant industry

Experience training others

Proficient in OpenTable GuestCenter and Positouch a plus

Multi-tasking: managing phones, guests, coat check, server assignments

Strong organizational skills

Kind with a sense of humor

Strong ability to delegate tasks

Experience in conflict resolution and managing challenging situations with empathy

 

This position is full-time 

o ya is open Tuesday to Saturday

Hojoko Japanese Tavern opened in Boston in 2014, a more funky izakaya-style concept with live music and karaoke. In 2019, the Cushman team opened Ms. Cluck’s Deluxe Chicken & Dumplings and gogo ya Crispy Nori Sushi Tacos in Boston’s location of Time Out Market. Following the market’s opening, The Cushman’s opening the first international location of o ya in Mexico City. This coming winter, they will open a new neighborhood restaurant named “bianca” in Chestnut Hill, Massachusetts.
