Flora Bar is the third restaurant from chef Ignacio Mattos, located in Marcel Breuer’s iconic building occupied by the Met Museum. In the dining room, Flora Bar’s offerings reflect the nuance and international influence of its downtown sister, Estela, but Flora also offers a wide range of options, with fresh-baked goods and sandwiches in our café for museum guests and neighbors. Flora currently seeks a Front of House Manager passionate for its cuisine who can express a mentoring, education-focused style of leadership; and who is able to balance the many demands of this dynamic position.

Understanding the personnel and operational demands of a restaurant are an essential foundation.  Moreover, a successful candidate is able to efficiently synthesize information, prioritize tasks and oversee their completion, and manage demands of service on the go and in order to ensure smooth operations.

Additionally, a Front of House Manager on our team must understand the following:

Guest experience is our highest priority. Our team must ensure that all service staff are able to guide each guest through their experience and upholding service standards.

You will work closely with the General Manager and Assistant General Manager. You will be adept at working with senior team members, not just the GM & AGM, but the CDC, Beverage Director, and Director of Operations.

Essential Requirements

  • Proven restaurant management experience, 2-3 years as a Service Manager or Maitre’ D level preferred
  • Passion for creating incredible guest experience
  • Emotional intelligence with a desire to grow your leadership skills
  • Organized approach to managing yourself and your team
  • Attention to detail
  • Potential and ambition beyond this role
