Cake Life Bake Shop, in the heart of thriving Fishtown, is looking for a Full-Time Baker for our Pastry team.

The Baker for the Pastry team will assist in preparing Cake Life's fresh retail products, including croissants, pies, sandwiches, and simple decorative cookies, in a high-volume kitchen. Products must hold to a consistent high standard of flavor and aesthetic set by the Pastry Team Leader and Head Chefs/Owners.

The right candidate for Cake Life will love to bake, have 3-5 years experience cooking/baking in a professional kitchen, possess acute attention to detail, and work well in an inspired, yet deadline-driven environment. We are looking for someone happy, flexible, reliable, and even-tempered, who enjoys working with others. Pastry school credentials are strongly preferred, but not required.

This full-time position will be supervised by the Pastry Team Leader. Salary will be based on the candidate's prior experience. The hours are 4am-12pm, Wed-Sun.

-Daily bake-offs for retail FOH needs as well as special orders
-Assist in production of batters, laminated doughs, Viennoiserie, fillings, etc. from scratch by correctly following recipes provided
-Keep on top of production schedule provided by Pastry Team Leader
-Communicate when equipment needs servicing or replacement
-Communicate when ingredients, decorating supplies, and smallware products are low
-Ensure product quality and consistency
-Help clean and maintain kitchen in accordance with food safety and sanitation guidelines, following daily cleaning duties
-Ensure that all refrigerated foods and inventory are properly stored and labeled, including dates

-Willingness and capability to work early mornings, weekends, and holidays is mandatory, with the potential for occasional overtime hours
-Professional baking experience required
-Pastry school credentials strongly preferred
-Excellent communication skills
-Minimum of basic dough-working and assembly skills with an eagerness to improve
-Excellent attendance and punctuality, with schedule flexibility as required
-Strong work ethic and can-do attitude with a love of learning
-Ability to lift 50+lb cakes and bakery supplies
-A sense of humor!
