Job Details
Crown Shy is looking for hard-working and detail-oriented AM & PM shift Porters for full-time and part-time employment. Your responsibilities include ensuring tools, plates, silverware, equipment, facilities, and more within the restaurant are clean and organized. You will accomplish these goals as part of a team of 5 or 6 Porters per shift. You must communicate, build trust, and work well as part of the team.

PM Porter shifts begin at approximately 6:00PM and end at approximately 2:30AM.  Family meal is served daily starting at 11pm for this shift. 
 
AM Porter Shifts start at 6:30AM and end at approximately 2:30PM. Family meal is served daily starting at 10:15AM for this shift.
 
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
  • Sort and rinse dirty dishes, glasses, tableware and other cooking utensils and place them in racks to send through dish machine 
  • Sort and stack clean dishes, carry clean dishes to cooks’ line and other proper storage areas, rewash soiled dishes before delivering 
  • Change dishwater in dish machine every hour 
  • Wash pots, pans and trays by hand 
  • Remove trash and garbage to dumpsters
  • Move in and around a 3-story restaurant space as needed (There's a lot of stairs!)
  • Return dumpsters to building trash room from street 
  • Set up or break down dishwashing area 
  • Break down, clean, sanitize and rebuild cooking equipment
  • Fill/empty soak tubs with cleaning/sanitizing solutions 
  • Sweep/mop floors in kitchen and dining room as needed 
  • Sweep/mop floors in egress passageways, hallways, and common areas as needed
  • Assemble/disassemble dish machine 
  • Sweep and mop common hallways outside of cellar prep kitchen
  • Conduct general restaurant and restroom cleaning as directed 
  • Clean and sanitize staff bathrooms and locker rooms twice daily
  • Wipe up any spills to ensure kitchen floors remain dry 
  • Notify manager and time dish machine wash or rinse cycle falls below safety standard temperatures 
  • May be asked to setup and breakdown private events furniture and equipment
  • Job may include other duties as assigned by a manager not listed here
 
CHARACTERISTICS OF SUCCESS INCLUDE:
  • Possess a strong sense of urgency and attention to detail to address the cleaning and facility needs of the 70 Pine Restaurants, both in the dining room and the kitchen
  • Possess a working understanding of sanitation codes and regulations
  • Feel comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with an understanding of how to operate within a busy kitchen
  • Be able to speak and understand English
  • Ability to speak Spanish is a plus but not required
  • Be able to stay calm under pressure
  • Be able to closely follow directions
  • Be able to lift up to 50 pounds
  • Possess a minimum of one-year experience in a similar position
  • Be able to stand for extended periods of time and work in a wet, confined area with elevated temperatures
  • Be prepared for continuous bending, reaching, twisting and use of hands and arms
  • Be prepared to ascend and descend stairwells as needed

In the heart of Manhattan’s Financial District is a beautiful art-deco building at 70 Pine Street. James Kent, from the Nomad and Eleven Madison Park, and partner Jeff Katz, of Del Posto, have teamed up to bring a beautiful 7,000 square foot restaurant to the ground floor of this stunning, landmarked building. Boasting 120 seats, two private dining rooms, and a 16 seat bar, the restaurant will have a state-of-the-art open kitchen that includes a Heston Suite as well as a commissary kitchen to support scheduled expansion to two other concepts in the building opening in 2019. The team includes more than 10 veterans of the industry, all of whom have worked directly with James or Jeff over the past 15 years.

Our menu approach isn’t based around a geographical region or a particular style of cooking, but rather the endless creative pursuit of delicious flavors, beautiful composition, and generosity. We will always strive for gracious, warm, and appreciative service, where attention to detail and anticipating guest's needs are priority number one.
