STARR Restaurants is currently in search of SOUS CHEFS with a strong work ethic and values and passion for delicious, flavorful food executed and served with care and consistency to join us at our next opening at Fotografiska NYC.

Coming this fall, history, culture and cuisine collide where the precision and style of Old Europe meets the global sensibilities of the modern art world.  Located at 281 Park Avenue South, in the stunning Renaissance Revival building that will serve as the North American headquarters of Fotografiska, the Stockholm-born gathering place for lovers of contemporary photography, STARR Restaurants will be operating a café, full-service restaurant, lounge and event space.  


At the helm of the culinary program is Chef Robert Aikens, formerly of the Peacock and the Shakespeare in Murray Hill's William Hotel.The menu draws inspiration from France, Austria and Eastern Europe in an eco-conscious manner that prioritizes seasonality and
sustainability. 

The restaurant and bar spaces, masterfully designed by Roman and Williams, seamlessly incorporate the building’s original beauty with opulent fixtures, dramatic murals, lush plants and colored glass that imbues natural light with a gauzy, impressionistic glow.
 
Desired Experience:
  • A minimum of 3 years of leadership experience as a Sous Chef, Chef de Cuisine or Executive Sous Chef in a well-rated restaurantPrior experience and success in running expo in a busy kitchen
  • Prior restuarant opening experience a PLUS!
  • Strong administrative skills and prior experience managing the purchasing and scheduling aspects of a kitchen
  • Experience hiring, training and mentoring salaried Sous Chefs and hourly BOH staff
  • Ability to drive performance and results of a diverse culinary workforce
  • A minimum of an Associate's degree from a culinary school/university - preferred
