Evening Star Cafe, Del Ray’s original dining destination and quintessential neighborhood gathering place is seeking a Sous Chef to join our talented culinary team.
The Evening Star opened in 1997 in the Del Ray neighborhood of Alexandria and quickly became a community landmark and favorite gathering spot for local and regional diners alike. Over the last 22 years the restaurant has evolved and expanded its footprint to include multiple dining and drinking spaces as well as a rooftop garden created in partnership with Arcadia Center for Sustainable Food & Agriculture (more on that below) that provides much of the seasonal produce featured on the menu.
Executive Chef Jonathan Till has received praise from regular diners and local food press since his appointment last year. A passionate forager and gardener, Jonathan highlights the best of regional ingredients, drawing heavily on foods he forages for locally on his day off and produce he grows on the roof of the building. Tom Sietsema of The Washington Post included Evening Star on his list of favorite places to eat for two consecutive months in 2019.
If you have a passion for unique ingredients and creative cooking, and you want to keep developing your craft and learning more, we want to meet you!
