Kumiko is in search of a part time Host to join our team! 

Job Summary

The Host is one of the most important positions at Kumiko. Your interactions with each guest before they arrive, whether by e-mail or over the phone, will create a vision of what their experience will entail. In essence, you create their expectations. It is important to convey warmth and genuineness, while also ensuring you clearly communicate important details regarding what they should expect.

 

You will also be responsible for communicating all pertinent information to managers, FOH staff, and kitchen staff. The facts you gather from your interactions with guests are extremely important tools that the FOH and BOH need to perform their jobs. It is key that you provide them with clear and true information in a timely manner.

 

When a guest enters Kumiko, your presence and greeting become the first impression they have, and will set the tone for their entire experience. It is important to be welcoming and to diffuse any anxiety our guests may have as quickly and comfortably as possible.

 

Overall, being organized and detailed, communicating clearly and genuinely, and expressing warmth and generosity are all key attributes of the Host.

 

Key Accountabilities

  • Before guests arrive: acts as concierge - guiding them in making reservations, taking notes to enhance their experience, and providing clear expectations of their upcoming experience.
  • Researches guests ahead of their visit and enters information into their profile.
  • Answers telephone calls, emails, and texts and responds to inquiries.
  • Maintains constant contact with kitchen staff, management, serving staff, and guests to ensure that dining details are handled properly and guests’ concerns are addressed.
  • Greets guests warmly, thanks them for joining us, and welcomes them into the dining room. Helps them into their seats, offering still or sparkling water and wishes them to have a wonderful experience.
  • Says goodbye to guests, asks them about their evening, and takes notes on their interactions, saving to the guest’s profile.
  • Enters servers notes after guests’ visits into their profile to use for future visits.
  • Create spreadsheet of the next day’s reservation list that includes all allergies, aversion, PPX’s, and any other key information for the kitchen.
  • Creates and provides chits for to servers that includes all pertinent information on guests seated in their sections (i.e. celebrations, allergies, aversions, etc.)
  • Is the “go-to” person when anyone has questions regarding reservations or guests.
  • Coordinates reservations with Oriole, if guests are visiting both restaurants.
  • Ensures all menus are in perfect condition.
  • Prints menus on a daily basis.
