Fancy Radish, a Vegetable Restaurant by James Beard nominated Chefs Rich Landau and Kate Jacoby, is interviewing experienced Line Cooks with weekend availability. 

Our ideal candidates must be able to demonstrate the following:

- Demonstrates exceptional culinary skills with an emphasis on following recipes and taking direction
- Proficiency in allergens, modifications, and substitutions on a given station
- Demonstrates prep, line work, and cleaning are met with excellence and consistency
- Understands Policies and Procedures within the restaurant to maintain a safe and clean work environment
- Able to rise to the challenge of frequent menu changes
- Able to follow all in house procedures to prepare for health inspection
- Loves cooking and the hospitality industry
- Demonstrates excellent communication skills with co-workers
- Able to remain positive and proactive
- Has an Eye for Detail and a Can-Do attitude
- Able to multitask and meet deadlines
- Possesses excellent troubleshooting skills and is able to to charismatic under pressure
- Proven reliability and excellent attendance
- Scheduling availability that meets the needs of the restaurant
- Able to be active in the kitchen for extended periods of time including late at night, weekends, and holidays
- Able to lift 50 pounds

With all eyes on vegetable cooking these days and all the great talent in our field, we’ve decided to carve a new path for our first DC outpost. We’re pushing vegetables even further in 2018 with a new vedge restaurant: Fancy Radish.

Poised to open on H Street around late-February, Fancy Radish will seat about 60, serving Dinner every night and adding Brunch on the weekends. Expect a fantastic Happy Hour too from a bar that promises refreshing cocktails, cool draft beers, and impressive natural wines. Pulling a bit of the grit and spice from our street food bar V Street and relying heavily on the elegant, serious cooking at our flagship Vedge, the vegetable-focused menu will be familiar, but new.

Familiar because the name comes from a signature Vedge dish, the Fancy Radishes, which captures perfectly our approach to vegetable cooking: elevating humble vegetables to prove how versatile, inspired and delicious they can be. Think toasty soft pretzels dipped in velvety rutabaga fondue or braised tempeh with crunchy kimchee slaw. Whole roasted carrots with pumpernickel and sauerkraut puree or slick dan dan noodles twirled with slivered zucchini and succulent oyster mushrooms. Silky white chocolate custard with poha and preserved kumquat. This is what’s so interesting in cooking these days!

We’re aiming to building a culinary destination, one with broad appeal from casual bites to celebration nights. Our crew is hard at work recipe testing, finalizing design and assembling the rest of our opening team.
