Job Details

The Brooklyn Barge is a high-profile bar on the Greenpoint waterfront that serves the community as well as hosting corporate and private events. We are a seasonal bar that is open from May 1st until October 31st, 2019. We are looking for full time and part time employees that can commit to us for the full season. The Brooklyn Barge has started it's hiring process for the Spring and Summer of 2019!

We are looking for:

Line Cooks (Competitive hourly $17-$20/hr DOE)


Primary Responsibilities:

  • Promote, work, and act in a manner consistent with the mission of The Brooklyn Barge, whose mission is to connect our community with kayaking, fishing & historic NY waterways.
  • Grill, cook, and fry foods such as french fries, nacho chips, hamburgers, chicken fillets, fish fillet
  • Perform food preparation tasks, such as making sandwiches, carving meats, making sauces, marinating meats etc.
  • Make sure all food is organized in freezers, walk-ins and dry storage by expiration date (First In, First Out)
  • Restock kitchen supplies, rotate food, and stamp the time and date on food in coolers.
  • Clean food preparation equipment, work areas, and counters or tables.
  • Attend all scheduled employee meetings and offers suggestions for improvement.
  • Coordinate with and assist fellow employees to meet guests’ needs and support the operation of the restaurant.
  • Clearly communicate to Managers on scheduling issues upholding the standards of switching shifts and any possible conflicts.


  • Two or more years of experience in kitchen preparation and cooking
  • Able to communicate effectively with Guests, Managers and kitchen personnel
  • Able to reach, bend, stoop and frequently lift up to 50 pounds
  • Able to work in a standing position for long periods of time (up to 6 hours)
