Quince, Chef Michael Tusk’s highly acclaimed San Francisco restaurant, seeks a passionate and capable Sommelier to join our Wine Team.

Located in the historic neighborhood of Jackson Square, Quince is a Three star Michelin star restaurant that features California contemporary cuisine with seasonally-driven menus that change daily, with much of the produce coming directly from the restaurant’s own Farm located in nearby West Marin County.

The Sommelier position works in conjunction with the Beverage Director to oversee and direct the day to day service and administrative operations of the department. A strong understanding of wine service mechanics and  the ability to discuss wine eloquently and naturally in a wide variety of settings is needed. This role has a strong focus on hospitality, product education and staff development as well as mentorship.

Candidates would have a minimum of four years in the hospitality field and should be well versed in in the classic wine growing regions and their producers as well as with emerging regions and market trends. Specifically, detailed knowledge of producers, vintages and the appellations of Champagne, California, Burgundy and Piedmont. Collaboration with the Culinary team to identify suitable beverage pairings for a daily changing tasting menu is critical.  Participation in tastings, conducting staff educational seminars and trainings, assistance with cellar management such as monthly inventory, weekly organization, racking and restocking wines and processing deliveries are essential functions.

Ideal Candidate: 

  • 2 years as a sommelier in a Michelin starred fine dining establishment 
  • Certified/Advanced Sommeliers through the Court of Master Sommeliers, or equivalent certification and/or corresponding knowledge/experience
