Position Descriptions

Title: Line Cook

Reports to: MOD/GM

Position is located near Rosemont, IL

**Workweek is Monday-Friday, will have weekends off**

Summary of Position:

Accurately and efficiently prepare sandwiches, salads, eggs, wraps, and other hot and cold food products. Also prepare and portion food prior to cooking and perform other duties in the areas of food preparation and plating presentation for all menu items.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Shows up for work when scheduled and is on station, in uniform promptly
  • Refer to Daily Prep List at the start of each shift for assigned duties.
  • Uses our Standard Recipes for preparation and portioning of all products; portion food products prior to cooking according to standard portion sizes and recipe specifications.
  • Promptly reports equipment and food quality problems or product shortages to the MOD
  • Completes opening station checklists
  • Assumes 100% responsibility for quality of products served.
  • Knows and complies consistently with our standard portion sizes, cooking methods, quality standards and kitchen rules, policies and procedures.
  • Stocks and maintains sufficient par levels of food products at all line stations to ensure a smooth service period.
  • Portions food products according to standard portion sizes and recipe specifications
  • Maintains a clean and sanitary work station including tables, shelves, Turbo Chef ovens, grills, flat top, range, ovens, steam wells, refrigeration equipment and floors.
  • Follows proper plate presentation and garnish set up for all dishes,
  • Handles, stores, and rotates all products properly, using FIFO.
  • Assists in food prep assignments during off-peak periods as needed.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned by the Kitchen Manager, Manager-on-Duty, or General Manager
  • Closes the kitchen properly and follows closing checklists for kitchen stations. Assists others in closing the kitchen
  • Attends all scheduled meetings and brings suggestions for improvement
  • Performs other related duties as assigned by the Kitchen Manager, Manager-on-Duty, or General Manager

Qualifications and Expectations

  • Must be able to communicate clearly and effectively.
  • Be able to reach, bend, stoop and frequently lift up to 40 pounds.
  • Be able to work in a standing position for long periods of time.
  • Must have exceptional hygiene and grooming habits.
  • Consistently works to improve and grow
  • Must be able to read and follow preparation recipes and line build cards
  • Understands how to keep refrigeration equipment and storage clean and organized
  • Has a valid Food Handler's Certificate

Job Type: Full-time

Salary: $14.00 to $16.00 /hour
