ABOUT PARK SOUTH AND CUSHMAN CONCEPTS:

Park South, a Joie de Vivre Hotel is a 131-room boutique lifestyle hotel located on 28th Street between Park Avenue South and Lexington Avenue, steps from Madison Square Park and various cultural attractions.

The property completed a $20-million renovation in late 2015, unveiling updated, contemporary guestrooms and suites designed by Lisa Knight of ABI Interior Design. CCS Architecture also completely redesigned the hotel's restaurants and public areas, including the hotel’s lobby. In partnership with New York City epicurean bookstore Kitchen Arts & Letters, Park South Hotel also provides a unique library with a collection of limited edition and rare books for guests, visitors and culinary enthusiasts to enjoy.

The Hotel offers four food-and-beverage concepts, led by husband-and-wife restaurateurs Tim and Nancy Cushman.  They have founded and lead restaurants in Boston and New York City whose collective vision is to create unique hospitality experiences that surprise and delight their guests every day.

Their original concept of a contemporary Japanese restaurant specializing in sushi and small plates called o ya opened in Boston in 2007, and earned Chef Tim Cushman the James Beard Foundation Best Chef Northeast award in 2012. They went on to open other concepts in the Park South Hotel, including a second o ya, a rooftop cocktail lounge called Roof at Park South, and a restaurant inspired by Chef Tim’s early career in California called Covina.

Both Park South and The Cushman Concepts team is proud of these shared principles: that they are a group that is creatively driven and operationally sound, and that they foster and insist upon a culture of genuine care for themselves, their purveyors and their guests. JOB SUMMARY:

This position will be responsible for all aspects of digital marketing, social media, and public relations including, but not limited to the essential functions and responsibilities listed below.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/ RESPONSIBILITIES:

Develop integrated strategic marketing communication plans and supporting budgets.

  • Oversee and analyze all digital marketing initiatives.  Track and monitor the success of the initiatives while providing key insights and reporting to all stakeholders.            
  • Work collaboratively with the team to develop compelling programming that can be leveraged through all external channels – digital, social and PR.
  • Assist with development and updating of all digital platforms.
  • Curate photographic content and content calendars for digital marketing, social media and press use.
  • Assist with coordination and management of photo shoots.
  • Maintain the inventory and organization of all photographic images in digital asset library.
  • Maintain professional and positive social media presence via Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, etc.
  • Manage social media campaigns and day to day activities both internally and with external partners.
  • Become an advocate in social media spaces, engage in dialogues and answer questions on all platforms (Instagram, Facebook, Yelp, Tripadvisor).
  • Develop and oversee awards and accolades strategy for property and outlets; handle submissions for all relevant opportunities.
  • Design and produce press kits, develop new press initiatives, and maintain appropriate website content, inclusive of press releases.
  • Act as the main point of communication for all media and press related inquiries.
  • Be creative and consistently brainstorm revenue producing ideas for property.
  • Handle phone calls in a courteous, efficient manner using clear, understandable English.
  • Professionally maintain all files, reports and misc. correspondence.
  • Prepare monthly and quarterly reports.
  • Provide additional assistance to staff and customers as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS: EDUCATION, KNOWLEDGE, TRAINING, & WORK EXPERIENCE:

  • Project management oriented with an entrepreneurial spirit.
  • Highly organized, creatively driven, innovative, excellent time management skills, self-starter, initiator, driven, self-disciplined and assertive.
  • Ability to think creatively and communicate effectively with a variety of personalities, work well in team environment.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Excellent written and oral communications skills.
  • Knowledge and understanding of all marketing aspects in relation to daily operations.
  • Knowledge of content marketing - able to write and create compelling material.
  • Basic photography and photo editing skills.
  • Full understanding of the key principles of hospitality and service, and hospitality operating systems.
  • Excellent media contacts and knowledge of the food, beverage, lifestyle, and travel spaces.
  • 2+ years digital marketing, branding, social media, public relations, journalism (print, digital, or broadcast) and/or communications experience.
  • 2+ years food and beverage operations and/or hospitality experience preferred.
  • Minimum of Bachelor’s Degree in related field.
  • Previous experience working in communications and food and beverage operations and/or hospitality
    • 2+ years public relations, journalism (print, digital, or broadcast) and communications.
    • 2+ years hospitality experience.
  • Full understanding of the key principles of hospitality and service, and hospitality operating systems.
  • Knowledge and understanding of all marketing aspects in relation to daily operations.
  • Ability to think creatively and communicate effectively with a variety of personalities, work well in team environment
  • Marketing / branding / positioning experience is preferred.
  • Excellent media contacts and knowledge of the food, beverage, lifestyle, and travel spaces.
  • Minimum of Bachelor’s Degree in related field.
