Flora Bar is the third restaurant from chef & owner Ignacio Mattos, located in Marcel Breuer’s iconic building occupied by the Met Museum. In the dining room, Flora Bar’s offerings reflect the nuance and international influence of its downtown sister, estela, but Flora also offers a wide range of options, with fresh-baked goods and sandwiches in our café for museum guests and neighbors. Flora currently seeks a Chef de Cuisine passionate for its cuisine; who can express a mentoring, education-focused style of leadership; and who is able to balance the many demands of this dynamic position.

Understanding the personnel, operational and financial demands of a restaurant and it’s kitchen operations are an essential foundation. Moreover, a strong candidate is able to efficiently synthesize information, prioritize tasks and oversee their completion, and manage demands on the go in order to ensure successful service.
Additionally, a Chef de Cuisine on our team must understand the following:

In addition to working closely with the Culinary Director and Ignacio Mattos, you will be adept at working with other senior team members, including the GM. You will also be expected to lead and collaborate with your Sous Chefs and the front of house managers.
Essential Requirements
Proven kitchen management experience as a CDC, 2-3 years preferred
Passion for creating incredible guest experience
Emotional intelligence with a desire to grow your leadership skills
Organized approach to managing yourself and your team
Attention to detail
Potential and ambition beyond this role
