One Off Hospitality Group has 13 locations in our restaurant family: avec restaurant, Blackbird Restaurant, Big Star (Wicker Park and Wrigleyville), Dove's Luncheonette, The Publican, Publican Quality Meats, Publican Anker, Publican Tavern O'Hare, Publican Quality Bread, Nico Osteria, Pacific Standard Time and The Violet Hour.
We are looking for great dish team members to join our family. The ideal candidate for this position is available to work nights and weekends, likes to work on a team, dependable, able to stand for 8 hours and enjoys a fun environment.  If you are this person, we would like to talk to you more on this position.
Position Summary: Is responsible for the timely washing of the restaurants dish and glassware.  Maintains cleanliness of kitchen area, receiving area, and waste removal area.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:
  • Make sure the three compartment sink is properly set up- wash, rinse, sanitize.
  • Make sure the dish machine is on and in proper working order.  Confirm that all dish chemicals are used in every wash cycle.
  • Break down all empty boxes and put them in the recycling bins.
  • Maintain the trash area outside.  Make sure all dumpsters are closed and not overflowing with garbage.  If recycling bins are full, throw all recyclable materials in the garbage dumpsters.
  • Maintain general cleanliness of the entire kitchen area.  Sweep the floor regularly, mop when necessary.
  • Maintain cleanliness of employee restrooms.
  • Maintain general cleanliness of the common areas and loading dock.  Sweep regularly.
  • If/when there are no dishes, time should be spent cleaning bakery production area and equipment. Refer to head baker and bakery supervisor for tasks.
  • Maintain the order of the linen cage.  Linen delivery is on Tuesday- unpack the delivery and organize in the cage.
  • Adhere to daily cleaning schedules of the bakery, its equipment and grounds.
  • Detail and clean equipment- blenders etc. when necessary.
  • Make sure nothing is blocking the other business’ doors in the loading dock.
  • At close of the shift, help the kitchen with the garbage.  Finish any remaining dishes returning all dishes to their proper places.  Double check to make sure all smallwares are in their proper places.
  • Break down and clean the dish area.
  • Lastly, make sure all the dumpsters and recycling bins are chained and locked at the end of your shift.

Minimum Qualifications (Education, Experience, Skills)
  • High school diploma, GED certificate, or demonstration of sufficient reading and math skills preferred.
  • Previous restaurant experience preferred.
  • Willingness to work mornings, evenings and weekends as required.
  • Strong communication skills
  • Strong time management skills and accuracy to deal with a variety of duties.
  • Positive attitude required.
  • ServeSafe Certification

Physical Demands and Work Environment
The work that dishwasher do is both physically and mentally demanding. They are on their feet much of the time.  Dishwasher typically work about forty hours a week and up to 8 hours a shift. However, because the restaurant serves the public and is open seven days a week, dishwasher may work longer, irregular hours.

This position requires staff to work in close quarters with other staff and/or guests which may result in physical, non-sexual contact with other staff and/or guests.

While performing the duties of this job, staff is regularly required to talk or hear in a loud environment. The staff is occasionally required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The staff may frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds or more. Specific sensory abilities required by this job include sight, taste, smell, and hearing.

While performing the duties of this job, the staff is occasionally exposed to raw meat, moving mechanical parts, airborne particles, hazardous materials, and risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment is moderate to loud.
