VU Rooftop Bar is seeking COCKTAIL SERVERS, HOSTS, BAR BACKS & SERVER ASSISTANTS for our new and exciting South Loop location, opening this October.

VU is a one-of-a-kind 22nd floor rooftop venue near McCormick place with expansive indoor and outdoor seating, highlighted by floor-to-ceiling windows with panoramic views of Lake Michigan and the Chicago skyline. Boasting a world class bar as its centerpiece, the space is part lounge, part bar, part restaurant, and utterly hip – inviting guests to create their own ideal experience. Ideal for everything from a quick bite or cocktail with friends to a private event in one of its many distinct indoor and outdoor spaces, the contemporary design of this 13,000 square foot space sets the stage for an elevated experience in a sleek and sophisticated environment.

  • HOST - Traits we look for and/or admire:

    • Knowledge of SevenRooms, & Tripleseat is a plus but not mandatory.

  • COCKTAIL SERVER - Traits we look for and/or admire:
    • One year minimum FOH service experience within the Food & Beverage industry.
    • Excellent time management.
    • Accommodating to guests; able to create a memorable experience.
    • Organized & hard working.
    • Liquor, beer, & wine knowledge. 
    • Food knowledge – ability to memorize menu items & accommodate guest restrictions.
    • Superlative communication with other staff & management.
    • Excellent communication skills.
    • Knowledge of MICROS is a plus but not mandatory.
    • Highly motivated & flexible, possessing the ability to take initiative.
    • Flexible schedule - able to work nights, holidays & weekends.
  • SUPPORT STAFF – Traits we look for and/or admire:
    • Have experience in a restaurant setting.
    • Flexible schedule - able to work nights, holidays and weekends.
    • A positive attitude and friendly demeanor.
    • A sense of pride & integrity in everything you do.
    • This position is ideal for those looking to expand and grow within our restaurant group.



Ability to read, write, and verbally communicate effectively and professionally with other departments, guests, and co-workers. Ability to diplomatically deal with difficult situations and people, while exhibiting a consistent level of professionalism.


While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, or telephone. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10-25 pounds and frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
