Job Details

Ponte is looking for a full time pastry cook for pm hours. Prep, organization, and plating skills are a must. Pay is based on experience. Team work and flexability is appreciated.

 

Essential Job Functions: (Responsibilities include but not limited to)

  • Demonstrate competent knife skills, basic pastry techniques & knowledge, measuring ingredients, mixing methods, and safe operation of all kitchen equipment.
  • Plan, prepare, set-up and provide consistent, timely and organized quality service in all areas of pastry production including an emphasis on plating in accordance with standards.
  • Strictly adhere to recipes and standards for product preparation and plating.
  • Assist in achieving food and labor costs through monitoring inefficiencies and waste.
  • Complete opening and/or closing checklists for each shift.
  • Assist in achieving food and labor costs through monitoring inefficiencies and waste.
  • Ensure work station mise en place is completed to standards.
  • Maintain a clean and sanitary work environment according to Virginia State Health regulations.
  • Strictly adhere to recipes and standards for product preparation and plating.
  • Prepare ingredients while adhering to Virginia food safety standards.
  • Work alongside co-workers to further develop culinary skills.
  • Assist with inventory, receiving and proper storage of product.
  • Able to lift 40+ pounds.
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize in a very fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to improve through training, direction and criticism.
  • Work well with other coworkers while displaying a positive and team player attitude.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to consistently prepare food as requested on the order ticket.
  • Must use great attention to detail.
  • Self- Motivated and able to excel under pressure.
  • Must exemplify Intermediate knowledge in product identification and use.
  • Use book knowledge in International cuisine and techniques.
  • Able to kneel, bend, and stand in temperatures up to 90 degrees.

Required Qualifications

  • Ability to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends and holidays.
  • Must have at least 1 year professional culinary experience in a fine dining environment.
  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Culinary degree preferred but not required.

Certification in food safety and sanitation is also preferred.
