Homestead on the Roof is a literal farm-to-table casual fine dining restaurant looking for server assistants who enjoy being around people who are consistently looking to learn and create using local and seasonal ingredients. Homestead on the Roof is a fun, fast-paced environment with great food, craft beer, and small batch wine selection. Working at Homestead staff is encouraged to be creative with their ideas and show their personality using their skill set.

 

Homestead is looking for friendly and caring Servers who enjoy being around people and working in a fast-paced environment with a casual, but elevated atmosphere. The Homestead is a fun, fast-paced environment with great food, great cocktails, craft beer, and a cool, neighborhood atmosphere.  It’s a fun place to work and a great place to start a career too. A Server will be in charge of his or her section of tables and managing the experience for all the guests.

 

Essential Functions:

  • Present Food and drink menus, make recommendations and answer questions
  • Have in depth knowledge of all food and drinks including ingredients and any potential allergy issues
  • Take Food and beverage orders from guests
  • Possess a desire to host your guests and personally see to their enjoyable experience
  • Learn the names and personally recognize our regulars, while actively developing your own
  • Serve alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks consistent with the Restaurant's standard drink presentation
  • Record food, and drink orders accurately and enter into POS
  • Accept guest payment, process credit card charges and make change (if applicable).
  • Prepare garnishes for drinks
  • Actively manage the performance of your Bussers and assist other servers when necessary
  • Clear and reset tables in section as necessary
  • Maintain cleanliness in all areas of the restaurant including counters, sinks, utensils, shelves and storage areas
  • Maintain organization according to the Server policies and procedures
  • Operate within the guidelines of The Fifty/50 Steps of service
  • Receive and serve food orders to guests at the restaurant
  • Assist the restocking and replenishment of FOH inventory and supplies

 

Other Functions:

  • Be available to fill in as needed to ensure the smooth and efficient operation of the restaurant as directed by the restaurant manager or immediate supervisor
  • complying with health and food safety standards, restocking items, cleaning
  • operating the ALOHA based POS, answering the phone, providing great customer service, and following Fifty/50 Restaurant Group policies & procedures

 

Physical Functions:

  • Ability to stand/walk a minimum of 8 hours or as needed
  • Must be able to exert well-paced and frequent mobility for periods of up to 8 hours or as needed
  • Be able to lift up to 20 pounds frequently
  • Will frequently reach, feel, bend, stoop, carry, finely manipulate and key in data
  • Work in both warm and cool environments
  • High levels of noise from music, customer and employee traffic
  • Must be able to tolerate potential allergens:  peanut products, egg, dairy, gluten, soy, seafood and shellfish

 

Qualifications, Education and Behavior

  • At least 21 years old
  • Have a minimum of 1 year Serving experience
  • Ability to work quickly while maintaining safety standards and procedures
  • Ability to properly handle a knife, confidently
  • Active social media presence
  • Ability to work Late into the evening
  • Ability to work consistent schedule at least 4 days per week

Homestead On The Roof — our cozy rooftop restaurant— is tucked away above Roots Handmade Pizza & features farm-fresh seasonal fare in its dinner, desserts, and hand-crafted cocktails from Executive Chef Jesse Badger.

Esoteric and small-production wines by the bottle and glass, a rotating craft beer list, and a tightly curated 100-bottle spirits list rounds out the Homestead beverage program.

Homestead sports an 85-seat outdoor rooftop patio sits next to its 3,000 square foot organic rooftop garden, two massive, vertical hanging gardens, and dozens of planter boxes, all filled with vegetables, fruits, and herbs. Homestead also has a 65-seat indoor, enclosed second story space which is open year round for private events.
