Bistro V is a French inspired and locally adored restaurant and bakery. Located on bustling Greenwich Avenue, this charming neighborhood bistro began its story in 1980, introducing its guests to hearty French Bistro fare, casual while elegantly presented. In 2014, restaurateurs Marc and Evelyne Penvenne who hail from the Bretagne region of France, and who own the popular Méli-Mélo Crêperie, Juice Bar and Catering business across the street, took over this iconic destination and re-introduced customers to a refreshed and more contemporary style of a French bistro and bakery.
The casual charm of this neighborhood restaurant and café remain, while the tradition and quality of Bistro V’s hearty French fare and freshly baked pastries, tarts and cakes has been heightened under the direction of Executive Chef Cedric Lamouille. A classically French trained chef who graduated from Thonon Les Bains culinary school in France. Chef Lamouille practiced his craft in such prestigious kitchens as Bistrot de L’Etoile in Paris. Most notably, Chef Lamouille was the sous chef at Restaurant Jean-Louis in Greenwich, under Master Chef Jean-Louis Gerin, the Connecticut patriarch of French cuisine for over 30 years. Before joining the team at Bistro V Chef Lamouille held the title of Executive Catering Chef at Meli-Melo for five years.
The Pâtisserie at Bistro V embraces traditional recipes for buttery croissants, éclairs, apple tarte tatin, mousse and charlotte cakes, classic dacquoise, Napoléon, petit fours and freshly baked bread. All bakery items are prepared fresh daily, a labor of love that takes place in the wee hours of the morning so that customers can enjoy the highest quality sweet treats, savory quiches and crusty breads.
Bistro V is an inspired French food destination that is both current and timeless.
