The first dining destination opened by Chef Russell and Desta Maree Klein in 2007, Meritage strives to offer all the best of French Brasseries while also upholding Chef Klein's culinary vision with his seasonally-changing chef-driven menu.
The heart of the restaurant, the dining room is a classic beauty with a warm, sophisticated, romantic feel. The terrace offers an urbane slice of outdoor dining nestled in the heart of downtown St Paul, with some of the best views in the city. The buzzing oyster bar features fresh East and West Coast oysters, as well as an amazing wine and cocktail list.
Born and raised in New York, Chef Klein studied under Jacques Pepin at the French Culinary Institute in NYC, who then nominated him for Food & Wine's Best New Chef shortly after arriving in the Twin Cities in 2002. He was named a Restaurateur of the Year by MSP Magazine in 2007. Most recently, Chef Klein was nominated as a semi-finalist for the James Beard award for his 4th time.
