Charlotte Voisey

Director of Brand Advocacy of William Grant & Sons USA

My introduction to this industry was a waitressing job at a busy Italian restaurant. I loved the energy and multi-tasking, and I was good at making people happy. I always look back to that experience when I'm searching for reward and satisfaction in my work.

One of the most important skills you need in this industry is empathy; we are in a people business after all! I also believe that the ability to remain calm under pressure and think quickly is a key to success.
I always take time to myself to reflect, recharge and come up with new ideas.
I try to lead by example with hard work ethic, all while having fun with my job and respecting my peers.
One of the early pieces of advice I got was “make your weaknesses your strengths”. This has stuck with me and often drives me to work on something that does not always come naturally.
My go-to books are: Jerry Thomas’ 1862 “How to Mix Drinks”, “The Bon Vivant’s Companion”, and The Bar Book by Jeffrey Morgenthaler
